A group of travelling Surfers more custom to the warmer waters of South Africa will be welcomed to one of the UK’s finest beach breaks this weekend, at the Goldcoast Oceanfest in Croyde, North Devon.

Surfers from the inspirational South African charity ‘Surfers Not Street Children’ and their British born leader and founder Tom Hewitt MBE are North Devon bound as part of a UK tour. Coming from Durban, South Africa the group is made up of former street children that have embarked on a tour designed around giving them a memorable experience whilst allowing them to shatter peoples image of street children. It aims to transform the way that these children are perceived and treated around the world by showcasing their top level surfing and sharing their inspirational life-stories.

In celebration of their visit Surfing GB have teamed up with Goldcoast Oceanfest, Croyde Surf Club, Rip Curl and POSCA to create a unique and fun Surf event for the charity. The ‘Surfers Not Street Children Low Tide Expression Session’ will see the surfers from South Africa battle out against current UK Pro Surf Tour Champion & Rip Curl Rider Jayce Robinson plus big wave charger, aerial fanatic and Rip Curl rider Lyndon Wake in a 30 minute low expression session. Judges will award points for waves ridden with recognition given for the Biggest Air, Biggest Turn & Most Radical Manoeuvre.

The event will take place at low tide around 11:30am on the Saturday morning so line the edge of the shore and get ready for a spectacle of progressive surfing mixed with stoke & happiness.
