The Chilean surf community, through the Chilean Surfing Federation, joined the “White Card” campaign to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
“Perhaps in Chile we do not have wars of great magnitude, but we have natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. These tragedies unite us and give us strength to overcome problems and move forward,” said the president of the Chilean Federation Surf, Paula Muñoz.
In many cases, the sport has been an escape mechanism from these terrible events. It also helps build support for the community and helps the athletes triumph. In this case, Surfing is one of the highest projected sports in the country and has taken the initiatives towards inclusion and participation for all disciplines, as well as involving the community and their participation in championships and other activities.
On this day, Chile and its surfers, express their solidarity for the movement of peace through sport.
