COOLANGATTA/QLD (21st October, 2014): Team Australia will be looking to go one better and take gold at the upcoming ISA 50th Anniversary World Surfing Games in Peru.
The event from October 24-November 1 will attract almost 200 surfers from 32 countries and be held at the point break of Punta Roca.
Team Australia finished second at last year’s event behind South Africa with Peru third.
The team consists of: Nic Squires (Corrimal, NSW); Hayden Blair (Mollymook, NSW); Otis Carey (Coffs Harbour, NSW); Shane Holmes (Berkeley Vale, NSW); Jess Grimwood (Bateau Bay, NSW); Philippa Anderson (Merewether, NSW)
Team Australia is stacked with experience with selection based on results at the Australian Surf Festival held at Coffs Harbour in August.
Squires, who will captain the team, won the Australia title ahead of Blair who finished third with Carey in fourth.
Grimwood won the Australian title in Coffs Harb our ahead of Anderson in second.
