Quiksilver Indonesia is proud to present the Quiksilver Canggu Challenge in conjunction with the Canggu and Pererenan Boardrider Clubs on June 20-21.

The Quiksilver Challenge will be an ASC sanctioned event held along the “Echo Beach” strip in Canggu. Surfers will be able to compete on the left hand “sandbar” on a lower tide and then move to one of Bali’s most consistent and high performance right handers at the Pererenan River Mouth as the tide fills in.  This combination of left and right waves which both offer everything from tube sections, punchy ramps and smashable walls will mean that Asia’s most exciting surfers get to prove themselves in some of the best competition waves Bali has to offer.  Following the finals on Sunday the 21st will be an awards ceremony and after party at the newly opened Quiksilver Boardriders Echo Beach at the Sea Sentosa resort.

This event will be held across four different divisions: Boys/Girls U/16 as well as Mens/Womens Open which will allow not only Asia’s best open surfers to compete for precious Asian Surf Champion (ASC) points but also allow the kids of the future to gain valuable competition experience.

Quiksilver athlete; Dede Suryana, who was the 2014 ASC Champion and WSL’s QS Komune Bali Pro 2014 winner cannott hide his excitement about the upcoming series. “2014 was a highlight year of my life, now with the ASC/ISC  trophy with me and Quiksilver making a contest at my favorite wave in Bali… I am ready for the challenge of defending my title.”

In the junior division, Rio Waida, will represent Quiksilver in the U/16 Boys category,  “The sandbar and river mouth are two of my favorite surf breaks.  I surf out there often before and after school and cant wait to compete there in an ASC sanctioned event.”

Quiksilver is a great supporter of grass roots surfing in Indonesia and by having these accessible competitions it gives the surfers valuable competitive experience which will one day see an Indonesian surfer represent their country in the World Surf League, said Sammy Gosling, Quiksilver SEA Marketing Executive.

Quiksilver would like to thank the Canggu and Pererenan Boardriders Clubs for their ongoing support in sponsoring these events.
