Surfing South Africa announces strong SA Masters Team for 2008 ISA World Championships

Surfing South Africa has announced the names of the management and surfers who will defend their World title at the 2008 ISA World Masters Championships which are scheduled to take place in Peru during March next year.

Chris Knutsen (Zululand), who won the Kahuna title at the ISA World Championships in Puerto Rico in January, will represent South Africa in the Over 50 Grand Kahunas division at the tournament next year.

The 45 and over Kahunas division comprises two new caps in Marc Wright (KZN) and Nick Pike (Border), team captain Craig Sims (Zululand) and 2007 finalist David Malherbe (Border) will once again surf for South Africa in the over 40 Grandmasters age group, while new caps Justin Healy (WP) and Andrew Banks (SKZN)  will compete in the over 35 Masters division.

Former ASP World Championship Tour surfer Heather Clark (SKZN) is also included in the team.

Ant Brodowicz (SKZN) is the team Coach and Brendan Callaghan (KZN ) is the Manager.

The trials to select the 2008 SA Masters Team were held during the recent Peugeot SA Masters Cup in St Mikes on the KZN South Coast.
