Abner Rivera, blazing champion of Guatemalan surfing

Abner Rivera was crowned four-time national champion of Guatemala and with his triumph he gained a place on the national team to represent his country in the 8th Pan American Surfing Games that will take place November 3-11 in Iquique, Chile.

The ‘Macaco’, as they call him in the Southern Coast, lit up the waves and made dreams come true.  Rivera carried the winning trophy home and left second place to Daniel López.  In the end, the surfer continuously thanked his girlfriend for her support.  “She is always with me and that helps me a lot”.

Afterwards, to celebrate his triumph, Rivera revealed the following to the local media:  “I want to praise the score that my great friend Daniel López received.  He has won seven tournaments, and he set the standard that I eventually surpassed.”
