Francisco BellorÍn, a Junior that gains ground in the big leagues
“Lolo” Bellorín continues to progress as he claims second place at the sixth stop of the ALAS tour, asserting himself as one of the strongest candidates for the title in the Junior Pro category.
Next to the Argentinean Leandro Usuna, Francisco Bellorín is one of the most exceptional surfers in this category of the 2007 Latin American Tour.
Having mastered a quick style and being familiar with good slashbacks, "Lolo" is one of the greatest prospects for the Venezuelan surf scene. He proved himself this year in the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Portugal and is now doing the same thing in a different latitude of the American continent.
Bellorín was victorious on the road to the finals of the Junior Pro, winning his two previous heats at the critical moment. But in the end, he was placed one spot below his fellow Rafael Pereyra.
Bellorín also put up a fight in the Open division and his efforts resulted in a fifth place in the general classification. On two occasions during the contest, he went up against Luis Vindas, the champion of the competition. In the quarter finals, however, he fell out of the competition at the last minute.
The surfer of Choroni, born December 18, 1989 in Maracay, Venezuela, is preparing himself for his grand finale in the international arena on the Junior division: the 8th Pan-American Surfing Games of Chile.
