Caballeros behind closed doors

Source: Olasperu.com

Access to Caballeros beach, south of Lima, was closed by a new owner that acquired the property in this zone. The woman believed it was necessary to chargea fee, or toll, for people to be able to pass and enjoy the beach.  She took matters into her own hands and put up a fence so that everyone had to endorse the new tax on the surf.  This news was published on the website of “Corcheros” and was given to www.olasperu.com to upload it.  Of course, this caused much indignation throughout the Peruvian surf community.

Below we published an excerpt from the article that appeared in Olas Perú:

We went to Caballeros recently and there was a fence along with an unfriendly lady that opened up the security gate for us.  We entered and then when we were leaving we were surprised to learn from the lady that she would be charging us for the parking.  We asked if it was the city of Punta Hermosa that was charging us.  Surprisingly the answer was NO!  The lady expressed quite clearly: “This is private property.”  The question is, whose property is it?  Shockingly, Cecilia Valenzuela, the lady who sits inside the brash window, bought this property, and is now charging for the parking in this area (behind the newsstands).

Everyone knows our good friend of the 1st newsstand, the popular “Giuseppe” that was always very friendly and cared for our cars.  He commented to us very angrily that the newsstands WOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ZONE.
He said that this decision was made some time ago, and it is obvious that our working friends in this zone have already lost this battle. Is it the Power?  You be the judge.

This issue not only angers this group of Peruvian bodyboarders, but also the large number of surfers in general in Perú.  Through the efforts of its champion Sofia Mulanovich, Peru obtained a world title for surfing.  We don’t ask for courts, but we must defend what is, out of anything, rightfully something meant for surfers and for the nation, OUR PERUVIAN BEACH.

It is unfair to go to our beach, prohibit us from leaving our car, CRUSH THE TOURISM IN THIS AREA, and allow  the most powerful to succeed in this country while the rest of us get run over.
