British National Surfing Championships announced

This year's British National Surfing Championships will be held over the weekend of 13/14 October at Fistral Beach in Cornwall.

We are pleased to announce that O’Neill will once again be event sponsors. Entry forms are available here.

Due to the swell forecast showing an unfortunate lack of waves, The British Surfing Association has had to take the decision to postpone the 2007 Billabong British Junior Championships.
The contest which was due to take place this weekend at Widemouth Bay, Bude, is now likely to take place on the 20th and 21st of October at the same location. Further updates can be found on our website. Please note that entry remains closed.

There’s plenty of swell activity around the British Isles at the moment, but, in keeping with recent patterns, it’s all coming out of the north and SW coasts therefore aren’t the place to be.
It’s looking as if something surfable MAY wrap into the North Coast from around Ireland during the weekend, but the further east you go the lower the chance.

Considering Widemouth’s position near the Devon border, we didn’t feel that there’ll be enough surf to sustain two full days of competition, even with the prospect of some small windswell developing during the weekend.

The BLU (British Longboard Union) are hoping that Gwithian Beach’s position further west will mean they’ve got enough surf to hold their fifth event of 2007 this weekend,
the OXBOW / SUNSET SURF CLASSIC. If mother nature produces the goods some great longboarding will be going on as the tour reaches its climax.
