Argentina and the care of its beaches

Last weekend the 2nd National Census convened to discuss Coastal Contamination in Mar del Plata.
The meeting was organized by the “Fundación Patagonia Natural”, with the support of the Argentina Surfrider Chapter of Mar del Plata, the “Fundación Reserva Natural Puerto Mar del Plata” the “Museo del Mar”, the “Foro Pro Costas”, the Sec. of Environmental Politics of the MGP, the “Fundación Vida Silvestre Argentina”, “Sindicato de Guardavidas”, “Mutual de Guardavidas”, the “Grupo Aguas”, the group “Guardavidas Playa Grande”, the Surf and Art Club, the group “Guardavidas de Punta Mogotes”, the Argentinian Surfing Federation, the Argentina Surf Association and the Mar del Plata Surf Association.

The meeting took place in Santa Teresita with the Coast Affiliate Chapter of Surfrider Argentina and Mundo Marino and in Necochea and Quequén with the Necochea Quequén Chapter of Surfrider Argentina, the Municipality of Necochea and the Environmental Quequén Assembly.

The primary objective was to register information about solid contamination in the coastal waters of Argentina.

The integral results of the consensus will be put into a brief disposition directed to the community and competent authorities, with the aim of putting forth public policies and private acts to remedy the situation.
