Pirata reigns Champion of the Extremity Games

A few days ago the O&P Extremity Games, the first Extreme Sports World Wide Championship for disabled people kicked off at the world renown artificial wave pool, Typhoon Lagoon located in Walt Disney World. Organizers were proud to set the stage for the first Surfing World Championships for people with disability.

The famed surfer from Guaruja Alcino Neto, known as Pirata, was the only Brazilian surfer invited to the event. During the event Pirata introduced his program “Surfing for All” with a film screening that outlined the program.

Ten athletes from different countries participated in this first surf world championship for people with disabilities and Pirate didn’t let his country down. The final saw surfers from Hawaii, one from California, a local surfer, and the spirited Brazilian who clenched his first world champion title.

This title brings a new concept for surfing and proves that with effort and a strong spirit anything is possible on the waves.

Pirata is sponsored by Hang Loose, ADD, Brazilian Surf Confederation and the International Surfing Association.
