Plenty
of things going on the Kiwi land these days. A brand new magazine with a
brand new DVD has been launched; a Rip Curl Grom Search will be held
this week end and the National Team Member Paige Hareb was called to
represent the country in the X Games becoming the first New Zealand
surfer ever to compete in the event.
NZ Surfing
Magazine Out Now
The first issue of NZ Surfing Magazine under
the new management of Kemalu Publishing and it's a fricken boomer with
sick shots that will definitely get you amped to go surfing even in this
cold weather. The cover price includes the much awaited 'Long Rd' DVD -
full of all time surfing from New Zealand's own.
If that's not enough to wet your whistle we've included a free Jack
Link's Steak Bar...again not a teaser-a full sized bar. They taste good
too!
Long Road DVD
The DVD features all of New Zealand's best surfers
with specific segments on Mazz Quinn, Matt Scorringe, Mike Banks, Leon
Santorik, AJ Matthews and Luke Cederman who nabbed the closing part.
Long Road showcases some great surf from around the country with insane
pits at Raglan as well as segments on the East Coast and a few of the
boys playing silly buggers. If you want to check it out get down to
your local book store or servo and buy NZ Surfing Magazine. You can
also go to

check out the trailer and other information about the film.
Paige Hareb X Games
Paige Hareb (Tara) has been all
over the media recently with her trip to the X Games as part of the
world team. What many didn’t realise was that New Zealand provided two
surfers for the event with Jay Quinn (Gis) also competing for the world
team. The event was held at Puerto Escondido in Mexico – commonly
referred to as Mexican Pipe.
Unfortunately both world teams
lost to the USA but the surf was epic and the word is that Jay Quinn
surfed brilliantly for the world team. You can check out the full event
broadcast on
http://expn.go.com/expn/index
where you will also find highlights including Jay Quinn’s insane stand
up barrel that earned him a near perfect 9.5 point ride. You can also
read Paige Hareb’s blog at
http://www.stuff.co.nz/4117476a1823.html
where she explains what it was like to be part of the talented world
team and the rivalry between their team coaches among other interesting
things about the event
Rip Curl Grom Search this week end at Fitzroy
Rip Curl Grom Search second stage will be held this
weekend at Taranaki, Fitzroy. The best New Zealand Under 16 boys and
girls will be there, looking for a place in the podium.
