PUENTE, SAINT-HILAIRE AND VAN EIKEN CHAMPIONS OF THE GUIBIA MALECON FREE 2007

The Dominican Republics best surfers gathered together last weekend in the third stage of the National Tour, the Guibia Malecon Free 2007. Jesmarin Puente won the Open division, Marcos Saint Hilare won the Longboard and Raul Van Eiken the Bodyboard.
Puente, Saint Hilare and Van Eiken represented Puerto Plata Surf Association and Santo Domingo Surf Association.
The event was organized by the Dominican Republic Surf Federation, and sponsored by the National District Government that provides the logistics for all the infrastructure and security of the event.
The second places in their divisions were occupied by Amin Jochy Bueno, from Puerto Plata; Daniel Alvarez, competing for La Romana and Michael Alvarez from Santo Domingo.
The third place crowns were for: Marcos Saint Hilare (Santo Domingo); Luis Sebastian from San Cristobal; and Jung Friend Sings from Puerto Plata.
The winner of the Expression Session was Junior Gomez from Rio San Juan, with the best maneuver of the event.
This year the National Tours last event will take place in “Playa la Boya” Andres, Boca Chica and “Playa Bahoruco” in Barahona. Another two competitions are planned: “The Friendship Contest Dominican – Californian” in Puerto Plata and the “Samana 2007” championship which will take place in “Playa Coson” of Las Terrenas.
Once the circuit ends, the champion from each division will participate in the Panamerican Surf Games in Iquique, Chile representing Dominican Republic. The Games will be in November 2007 and more than 20 American countries will participate in it.
