SIRF SURFING CONTEST

The first SIRF –Standhill Indonesian Relief Fund- Surfing Contest will take place on June 9-10 at Standhill, County Sligo, Ireland. The best Irish surfers will gather together to battle for the first place in the championship and the 1,000 euros in prize money, but mainly to help the victims of the Indonesian earthquake.

The competition will include the following categories: Open Men, Open Ladies, Junior, Bodyboard Men and Ladies, Longboard and Beginners.  At the same time, a course for judges, musical concerts and other beach activities, such as rugby and soccer, are also being programmed.

 The event is organized by the County Sligo Surf Club, and sponsored by Outerpoint, SDF Surfboards, Rip Curl and Spider.

Program of Activities

Friday

·        7.00 – 9.00pm Payment for Entry into competition– Dunes Tavern

·        9.00pm Official opening – Dunes Tavern – music from Seamie O’Dowd

Saturday

·        7.00 – 9.00am Payment for entry into competition – ISA Van beachfront

·        8.00am –  First heat in the water

·        1.00pm – 6.00pm  Live music – beachfront  

·        3.00pm – 7.00pm Beach games - Soccer, Tag Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee

·        Live music – Strand Bar

 ·        Live music –  Dunes Tavern

 

Sunday

·        8.00am – first heat in the water

·        1.00 – 6.00pm – live music - beachfront

·        3.00 – 5.00pm – Barbeque cook off - public parking area beachfront

·        5.00pm – beach entertainment

·        7.00pm – Prize giving on stage beachfront

·        Live music – Strand Bar

·        Live music – Dunes Tavern
