Surfing PNG: The new Papua New Guinea surfing magazine

It was launched a month ago, Niugini Blue, Surfing PNG, the first and only surfing-specialized magazine of Papua New Guinea.  The edition includes numerous photos of the excellent waves that break in the island, an interesting article on the history of how the federation was created, among other subjects.

The Papua New Guinea Surfing Association was started in 1989.  The first surfing communities built surf boards with all the materials they could find based on a surfing magazine that a traveler had left back in one of the island’s small towns. 

Even until today, several of the local athletes cannot count with the board manufacturing technologies that the most developed countries have, and make their own boards using pieces of wood, or any other available materials, in order to enjoy the waves.
