Peru awaits two great events
The Billabong
Pico
Alto Invitational & the
Quiksilver Pro La Herradura
Two of the most important and traditional Peruvian
events began their waiting period for good waves; The Billabong
Invitational will be held at
Pico
Alto, and La Herradura Beach will hold the
Quiksilver Pro.
Both waves
are two of the most classic and perfect
waves in Latin America.
Pico
Alto is well known for its enormous waves,
that can reach easily 25 Hawaiian feet, and La Herradura is famous for
its
tubular and large left-breaking waves.
Twenty-four guests will be participating at the
Billabong event, of which two Chileans and two Brazilians. The waiting
period goes from the 1st May to the 30th June.
On the other hand, the Quiksilver event is open and
has a waiting period that goes from May 1 to June 31st. Last
year’s winner was the talented
local surfer, Gabriel Villaran.
At the Billabong
Pico
Alto Invitational gallery of champions we

2005: Not carried out
2004: Magoo de la
Rosa
Toro
2003: José Gómez
It is a
time of great southern swells for
Peru. Both events can start at any
time now. Last year, for example, both
championships were run on the same day, soon after the Peruvian coast
was hit by a large swell.
