The first event of the National Colombian Surfing Tour, the Barena Triple Crown of Surf took place last May 27 in Casa Grande, Magdalena.

With great participation of competitors from all parts of the coastline, the press and a large crown of spectators, under a splendid natural framework and good waves, the board competitions were carried out in four categories: Open, Junior, Bodyboard and Amateur.

The sessions were mostly man against man, fact that allowed great performances by the competitors and a level that improved noticeably when compared to last year.

Cartajena-born Alejandro Covo and Eric Porto stood out and both managed to reach the finals in the Junior and Open Categories.  Porto finally won both.  We can also call attention to an excellent performance by the local surfer Camilo Rojas from Santa Marta, as well as 9-year-old Howard Gomes who won the Amateur category at such early age.  Good waves, a wonderful environment and great camaraderie were lived in this first valid event of the National Surfing Tour.

The Tour continues on June 2 and 3 at Arrecifes – Tayrona Park.
