Diego Medina steps away from the Chilean Championship
Diego Medina won the classic Héroes de Mayo championship, which
finished Sunday, May 20, at the waves of Iquique. At the
final round, the Horcón-born
surfer won over Ramón Navarro by a narrow margin. Morris Tapia followed
in third place and Reinaldo Ibarra in the fourth position. With this
result, after nine events and four to go, Medina reinforced his position
at the top of the ranking, with 2000
advantage points over Ramón Navarro.
Among other results, Jessica Anderson was the winner in the Ladies
category; Maxi Cross won Juniors, Guillermo Satt in Grommets and
Reinaldo Ibarra in the Senior one.
All the Chilean and world fans have their eyes set
on the city of Arica, where starting on June 15th, the Rip
Curl Search WCT trials
will begin. This is the fourth event of the Surfing Formula 1. For the
second time
in history, a Spanish-speaking Latin American will participate of the
world surfing first division.
