LA JOLLA, CA – 12 August 2010 -- The International Surfing Association (ISA), the World Governing Authority of Surfing, announced today that it will debut a new trophy for the World Surfing Games. The trophy will be on display during the ASR Trade Show at the San Diego Convention Center from the 13th to the 15th of August.

With the Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship getting closer, the local federation announced the names that will defend the host country colors in the world´s largest surfing event for over 35 year-old surfers to be held at the perfect waves of Santa Catalina from August 27 until September 5.

Showing that he´s really looking forward to an even more historical record breaking world title, the two times Masters World Champion, Juan Ashton of Puerto Rico, spent a week in Santa Catalina training for the Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship.

With the Panama ISA World Masters Surfing Championship right around the corner, the ISA decided to honor one true Master Surfer, Felipe Pomar from Peru, naming him the ISA Star of this month's edition.
Felipe Pomar set the bar early for Latin American surfers by winning the 1965 World Championships in his motherland of Lima, Peru. His unorthodox yet gutsy approach to surfing the tricky peaks at Punta Rocas earned him the win over some of the world’s greatest wave riders.
