Twenty- two-year old Jordy Smith (Dbn) etched his name into the history books Saturday when he became only the third ever South African winner of the Mr. Price Pro Ballito. His victory in this five star International event moved him into the No. 1 position on the ASP One World Rankings.

Current World champions Chris Knutsen, Marc Wright and Heather Clark are included in the SA Team for 2010 Panama ISA World Masters Championship. 

Surfing South Africa has announced the names of the 2010 South African Masters Team that will compete in the ISA World Masters Championships in Panama in August and September.

The 2010 South African Surfing Awards, presented by Zigzag and Surfing South Africa in association with Paarl Media and Carling Black Label, saw a number of South Africa’s top surfers and pioneers recognized for their achievement or contributions to South Africa’s surf landscape last night (Sunday 4th July). Jordan Michael Smith, better known as Jordy to everyone in the water, was crowned SA surfer of the Year to a rapturous applause from the crowd at the annual event, solidifying his growing reputation as one of the world’s most exciting surfers, as well as South Africa’s reputation as one of the leaders in world surfing.

About the International Surfing Association

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running Open Division World Championships since 1964, Junior World Championships since 1980, and Masters World Championships since 2007. The ISA will hold the first Stand Up Paddle (SUP) World Championship and the first World Bodyboard Championship in 2011.

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies of 64 countries on five continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided over by Fernando Aguerre (Argentina), first elected President in 1994 in Rio de Janeiro and re-elected seven times since. The ISA's three Vice-Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
