Cristóbal de Col Won Again

By Andrea Carrera – Press, National Surfing Federation - www.surfingperu.com.pe

Again, juniors did what they know best, they eliminated the first two of the Open National rankings:  Javier Swayne and Gabriel Aramburú. In a pretty tough semifinal, Yeferson Bellido got the first position and he was followed by Cristóbal de Col, both of them made it to the big final.

As in the previous stage of the IPD 2010 Cup (where the Junior Miguel Tudela won), another Under 18 won the trophy. With difficult conditions at La Pampilla (small and windy waves), Cristóbal knew how to take advantage of two out of the nine waves he caught, to finally beat Guillermo González, who was in the first place at that time. De Col (who also won the title in the Under 18 division) seemed comfortable on the waves, throwing a lot of water on his moves, and he even tried some aerials in spite of the conditions.

Peruvian Bodyboarder Won a Stage of the World Bodyboard Tour

César Bauer became Peru Inka Challenge 2010 Champion in the Drop-knee division, after beating Ardiel Jiménez from the Canary Islands.

Bauer made world bodyboarding history as he became the first Peruvian bodyboarder to win in this division. He did this by employing aggressive moves on the most critical parts of the waves, that reached three meters and broke all day long at the Chilca Point in Pucusana.

Taking into account that the Peru Inka Challenge 2010 was a Grand Slam event and it gives a double score, Bauer’s chances of becoming Bodyboard World Champion in Drop-knee have increased considerably.
