Irish Team Getting Ready for the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games

The 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games will take place at Punta Hermosa, Lima, Peru from the 21st to the 29th of October, 2010. The Irish Surf Team to compete at the World Surfing Games will be selected from best three results at the following events: Portrush Open, Cork Open and Co Sligo Open.

The Team will include

4 x Open Surf

2 x Women Surf

2 x Longboard

1 Manager

1 Coach

Irish Team for the European Junior Surfing Championship

The European Junior Surfing Championships will take place in Viana Do Castelo, Portugal from the 7th to the 16th of May.

The Irish Junior Surf Team will be selected by two events: the C-Skins West Coast Junior Surfing Championships taking place in Lahinch on the 6th and 7th of March and the Tramore Junior Surfing Championships taking place in Tramore on the 27th and 28th of March.

In the event of unsuitable conditions (no surf or storm conditions) in Lahinch or Tramore, an ISA selection event will be run on the scheduled weekend at an alternative venue. ? ?

About the International Surfing Association

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running Open Division World Championships since 1964, Junior World Championships since 1980, and Masters World Championships since 2007. The ISA will hold the first Stand Up Paddle (SUP) World Championship and the first World Bodyboard Championship in 2011.

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies of 64 countries on five continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided over by Fernando Aguerre (Argentina), first elected President in 1994 in Rio de Janeiro and re-elected seven times since. The ISA's three Vice-Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
