Indonesia Competes at the 2010 Quiksilver ISA WJSC for the First Time

For the first time in the history of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, the wave-rich nation of Indonesia was able to bring an almost complete team of seven surfers to compete in the greatest Under 18 surfing competitions on the planet.

Indonesian junior surfers honored their nation ending the event in the 16th position.

Tipi Jabrik, Coach and Team Manager for the Indonesian Junior Surfing Team said during the event: “We’re really excited to be here, especially for the kids. It’s a really good experience for them, but it’s not easy for us to travel here. Hopefully we can continue competing in the Juniors and the other ISA events.”

Jabrik also said that Fiji and Vanuatu’s inclusion into the prestigious tournament spurred the Indonesian team to compete. “If they could do it, why couldn’t Indonesia do it,” he said. “It’s going to make a better future for the ISA Junior events with lesser known surfing countries taking part.”

Agus Frimanto, Putra Hermawan, Oni Anwar, Sandi Selamet, Jeren Kiring, Koko Antara, Ediana Putra showed great surfing skills and the ISA is looking forward to seeing them again in future events.
