Fiji, Republic of the Fiji Islands
Fiji competes for the first time at the 2010 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship
For the first time ever, the Fiji Surfing Association competed in the biggest event for Under 18 surfers in the world, the 2010 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship that took place on Piha Beach, New Zealand, January 20-28.
Fiji traveled with a one-man team. Alivereti Kamanalagi competed in the Under 16 Boys division and lost in the first round, placing third in his repercharge round beating Vanuatu´s Norman Kaloliti.
Alivereti made history for his country by becoming the first surfer to ever represent Fiji and he also went back home with a great picture of him ripping –check it out, above right-.
The ISA is looking forward to seeing more Fijians at our events.
