Julián Cuello wins the National Championship

Julián Cuello ended the year with a great victory in the last stop of the National Surfing Tour, thus achieving the National Title. The event was held in San Juan (Lanzarote) in perfect waves and great weather.

Julián Cuello´s results this year included this victory, a second in O Grove and a 5th in Caravia to get to the top of the ratings. Carlos Marquéz still had chances to get the title but was eliminated in the quarters and lost his title hopes. His brother Antonio Marquéz reached the final placing second, Felix Ortega and Matías Hernández placed 3rd and 4th.

Guillermo Cobos – Spain’s Bodyboarding Champion

Guillermo Cobos from Gran Canaria was crowned the Spanish Bodyboarding Champion after the last stage of the Bodyboarding Tour held in El Agujero. He didn't reach the final but earned enough points to win the crown.

The event was a total success with around 80 bodyboarders competing. The organizers and supporters were: Federación Canaria de Surf, Ondina Surf Shop, 5C, Ochohuevos, Dharma Company and Jet Global Fitness Center, Federación Española de Surf, Ayuntamiento de Gáldar, Ocean Earth, Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Dirección General de Deportes and La Camisoteca

About the International Surfing Association (ISA)

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 60 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in La Jolla, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
