Tension until the last heat!

By Jan Groenendijk - Germany Surfing Association - www.surf-dwv.de

The Quiksilver German Championships, held from October 10 - 18 at the beaches of Mimizan France, saw over 400 German surfers traveling to French coasts.

With the great support of Quiksilver and the town of Mimizan, the Deutscher Wellenreit Verband (German Surfing Association) saw over 150 surfers participating in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the beach of "Remember" in the heart of Mimizan-Plage.

The waves were on fire while the competitors took it until the very last heats to surprise and attract an enthusiastic French and German crowd at the beach.

In 13 different divisions the surfers took it down to the wire and with a live webcast nearly 100,000 German visitors followed the action online. With the commitment of the town of Mimizan and title sponsor Quiksilver on hand, the event is likely to see its 15th anniversary at the beaches of Mimizan in fall 2010.

Season Wrap-Up

The 2009 season is nearly over and the German surf crowd is getting ready for another winter at home. Swells coming to the German and Dutch shores bring for a few cold sessions, and are up to take-off within the next few weeks to wrap up the 2009 season.

Therefore, the German Surfing Association invites everyone to Cologne to celebrate and finish the season with a nice warm glass of "Glühwein" at the beaches of Cologne.
