Jair Pérez Wins the First Stage of the DayStar 2009-2010 National Surfing Tour

After a final that he dominated from the start, Jair Pérez won the first stage of the DayStar National Surfing Tour, the Copa Mango in his hometown of Jacó.

Jair dominated a tough final against Gilbert Brown from Puerto Viejo, Matías Braun from Montezuma and Anderson Tascon also from Jacó.

Pérez, started strong reaching a combined score of over 13.00 points, and sealed the win with a flawless 8.00 point ride that raised the bar, leaving him with a 16.00 total and making it almost impossible for the other finalists to catch him.

Lisbeth wins again
The current National Women's Champion, and another Jaco beach native, Lisbeth Vindas, was once again a strong competitor, and demonstrated why she´s such a historic surfer.

She won the event, leaving her eternal rival, Nataly Bernold in second. Jordan Hundley placed third and Ericka Valverde placed fourth.

The next stop of the DayStar National Surfing Tour 2009-2010 the LimeCoral Championship on January 16 and 17.

About the International Surfing Association

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running Open Division World Championships since 1964, Junior World Championships since 1980, and Masters World Championships since 2007. The ISA will hold the first Stand Up Paddle (SUP) World Championship and the first World Bodyboard Championship in 2011.

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies of 64 countries on five continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided over by Fernando Aguerre (Argentina), first elected President in 1994 in Rio de Janeiro and re-elected seven times since. The ISA's three Vice-Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
