Athletes and members of the Dominican Surfing Federation (FEDOSURF) and the entire community of Puerto Plata, participated in the “Hot Summer Surf 2009” that took place in the magnificent scenario of the seafront of the Juan Lockward Park located at the eastern side of the “San Felipe” fortress.
This activity was carried out under a radiant sun and a calm sea and had as an objective to share and at the same time thank the support given by the community and authorities of Puerto Plata to the activities and competitions produced by Fedosurf in that region.
Fedosurf thanks those that practice our sport, as well as all surfing fans, all the youth and general population that integrated massively in the activities that counted with the participation of the groups “Los Cachorros Brake Dancing Team”, “Felling Blues Band”, “Stereo Box” and DJ OVAG, as well as the skateboarder community of Puerto Plata.
This magnificent event had the support of the municipal and provincial authorities, as well as the commercial business sector.

Blessed by God, due to the warm sunshine, good waves and great participation by the local community, the IV Dominican-American Friendship Competition 2009, where the best exponents of national surfing and North American surfers belonging to the Christian International Youth Initiative (IYI) organization met, came to a happy ending.
During the celebration of the event, the following athletes stood out in the different categories: Open Surf – the winner in this category was the Junior athlete “El Ovejo” Gomez, from Rio San Juan, who also occupies the first place in the 2009 National Ranking. Second place was obtained by local Willy Valdez, while the third place was occupied by Eduard “Papito” Santana from Cabarete.
In the Open Bodyboard division, the champion was local Martin Perez, who executed impressive maneuvers during the entire weekend. Edwin Then was second, followed by Randy Vasquez and Junior Perez. This category was led by the Nagua-born athletes.
In the Mini Junior category, the winner was Alex Encarnación, a Nagua local. He was followed by Wilmer Garcia, from the capital Santo Domingo. In third place came Marcos Anteres, from Terrenas. In the Longboard category, the champion was Eduard “Papito” Santana, followed by the “Santo Domingo legend”, Marcos Saint Hilaire.
All the winners of the IV Dominican-American Friendship Competition 2009 received items from the sponsors, medals, and in the Open categories received cash prizes, surf boards and Bodyboards.
It is important to point out the great participation of the community in the programmed activities such as: rock concerts, juvenile contests, break-dancing and our long-awaited barbecue.
This event, endorsed by our Federation, is being organized every year since 2005, as a way to strengthen the friendship ties between our local surfers and athletes and their North American counterparts.
