With waves of up to a meter and a half in the “Tube” sector of the Las Manchas beach, the Huntington Surf Shop Pro Cup, third event of the Arica Surfing Tour, took place during the long weekend of October 10 to 12.

Young Diego Demaria, that escalated his surfing performance at a gigantic pace, participated in two categories and won both, Open and Junior, and took away from his buddy Guillerno Satt the possibility of a title in the competition, leaving him in second place.  Demaria’s awesome approach to the waves allowed him to win both finals.  In the semifinals he left Patricio Ortiz (3rd place) out in the Open category.  In this same category, the young surfing star left renowned Gerald Alvarez also behind, in 4th place.

In the Junior division, Cristian Lopez and Andoni Flores were 3rd and 4th respectively.

Among the women, Carla Torres continued to show her predominance, and obtained the woman’s title in this cup, followed by Akua Lorena Fica in 2nd place, Veronica Ilufin (3rd) and Belen Salinas (4th).

A steady Israel Aguirre won the Under-16 category, with Ricardo Naranjo coming in second place, Nico Salves in third and Alvaro Gonzalez in fourth place.

Alejandro Dias won in the Under-14 category and his potentiality can already be seen.  Occupying second to fourth places were Miguel Rosende, Israel Aguirre (winner of the Under-16 category) and Pato Stagnaro.

Finally, among the novices, it was little Danilo Cerda who excelled in the Under-12 and less than 10 categories, followed in both categories by the same group: Gustavo Dvorques, Matias Rosende and Santiago Pacheco.
