Surfing America, the national governing body for surfing in the USA, is excited to announce the dates for the 2007 SIMA Surfing America USA Championships. The event, which decides the undisputed USA Surfing Champions by pooling top talent from the ESA, HSA, NSSA, TGSA, and WSA, will return to Huntington Beach during October in hopes for optimal swell and weather conditions.

"Surfing America is proud to be bringing the USA Championships back to Surf City USA," said Surfing America Executive Director Mike Gerard. "The new dates in October provide a better swell window so that all of our competitors get a chance to go head to head in the best conditions possible."

In 2006, the USA Championships were noted as the premier event in American junior surfing, thanks to a WCT/WQS panel of judges, live scoring and four-person, twenty minute heats. Although, the event is youth focused, it still holds divisions for elder surfers as well.

The schedule of events is as follows:

October 22-23
Masters
Seniors
Legends
Junior Longboard
Mens Longboard
Senior Longboard
Girls Longboard
Womens Longboard
Mens Bodyboard
Womens Bodyboard

October 24-28
All Youth Shortboard Divisions

This year, the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association –SIMA- has elevated itself to the burgeoning event's Title Sponsor role after having been Presenting Sponsor since 2004.

"On behalf of our members and the industry, SIMA is proud to step up to the title sponsor position for the USA Championships," said Dick Baker, president of SIMA. "SIMA has been a major supporter of Surfing America since its inception, and we feel it is important to support this great event to help promote the young surf talent in the U.S. and provide a platform for them to further develop and demonstrate their skills."

Top finishers in Under 18 Boys, Under 16 Boys and Under 18 Girls will be included in the trials for the 2008 PacSun USA Surf Team which will compete for the United States in the 2008 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships.
