Maximiliamo Siri is the new Argentinian Surf Champion

Leandro Usuna became the big winner of the Quiksilver Pro Argentina as he beat the new Argentinian champion Maxi Siri in the final, who obtained his third crown after the early elimination of Lucas Santamaría in the second round. Usuna showed a great level throughout the competition and had to use all his resources to beat Maxi Siri who also demonstrated why he was the surfer who most victories obtained in Argentina in 2007.

LA PALOMA DIDN’T LET ANYONE DOWN

On a sunny day, the last day of the Argentinean Surfing Tour, the event stood out because of the great quality of the waves and the high level of surf of the participants. The Quick Pro left behind good surprises. Leandro Usuna showed his class with a victory on his country where he hadn’t won for a long time. Maxi Siri proved that he can’t be stopped with a good selection of waves, Passeri made the highest score of the day (16.5) even though he lost in the quarters. And Maxi Prenski with an abdominal injure proved all his professionalism.

At 8:00 p.m sharp Jorge Belardi –Event Director - informed to the competitors that the first heat of the second round would be into the water by 9:00 a.m. Some minutes later the first surprise happened. Lucas Santamaria couldn’t repeat previous performances and got the third place on his heat behind Nahuel Amalfitano and Carlos Di Pace. With Santamaria out of the competition, at about 10:30 argentine surf had its new champion, or its new three-times-champion: Maxi Siri.

Near 4:30 p.m the Quik Pro Argentina came to an end, with Usuna crowning as the stage Champ and Siri as the National Champ. Both surfers showed solid performances and made a great show for the audience during all the competition.

After the award ceremony, the winner of the Quiksilver Pro Argentina presented by Samsung talked to the media. “I want to thank my sponsors (REEF, NIXON, SPY, DAKINE) and my family for the support. Today is a very happy day for me because I feel thankful for sharing this title with my friends and for having made a good performance throughout the contest. I think it’s a good way of closing this year competition in my country”, said an euphoric “Lele” Usuna.

Siri was also happy with his third national title, he said to Surfpress: “It has been an exciting championship. We fought until the last day with Lucas (Santamaria) and luckily this time the title was for me. Now I want to look for sponsors to compete abroad, I want to follow the ALAS Latin Tour and to join Martin Passeri to make a good impression for my country”.
