Costa Rica: back to back top 10 at the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games

The Costa Rican Surf Team showed the entire world that they are becoming a global surfing power nation. After placing 5th in the 2008 edition of the Games, this year, in their own backyard, they made it again into the top 10 by placing 7th in the Overall Team Standings.

The local team showed an amazing display of great surfing, but also, made a great point: Costa Rica loves Surfing and Surfing loves Costa Rica.

The team 7th in the overall team standings was the second best result ever in the history of the World Surfing Games. Individually, they placed as follows:

Open Men
7- Jason Torres
15- Carlos Muñoz
21- Gilbert Brown
33- Luis Vindas

Open Women
15- Lisbeth Vindas
21- Natalie Bernold

Longboard
29- Antony Flores
33- Diego Naranjo

A great deal of local knowledge and effort went into achieving a top ten result for the second time.
