Fourth of July Aftermath
Every year, the masses hit the surf and sand to celebrate America's independence making July 4th the busiest beach weekend of the year, but with the crowds so comes the trash! Every year our shores are littered with cans, bottles, discarded fireworks and other litter. City workers do their best to clean up our mess, but many times it takes the additional work of volunteers to help make a dent in the massive amount of trash left behind. The Surfrider Foundation is proud to recognize some of our chapters who held special post-Fourth-of-July cleanups. San Diego County Chapter whose annual "Morning After Mess" cleanup presented by Sun Diego was held today in five different locations around San Diego. Surfrider's New Hampshire, Northwest Straights, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and Kauai Chapters all held special post-holiday cleanups too! And, not to be outdone, our Newport, Oregon and South Orange County Chapters pitched in with special post-Fourth-of-July Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue events as well.

Thank you to all of you who helped clean up our beaches this year (or picked up after yourself on Sat.).
