Japan will compete in the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games
The Nippon Surfing Association has announced the Japanese Surfing Team that will compete in one of the biggest surfing events on the planet, the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games that will take place in Playa Hermosa,Jaco, Costa Rica, August 1st through the 8th.
The land of the rising sun will compete with the following surfers:
1 Kai Ojima Open Men
2 Syuuhei Kato Open Men
3 Yoji Oosedo Open Men
4 Yuki Kobayashi Open Men
5 Nao Oomura Open Women
6 Minato Takahashi Open Women
7 Yuku Okazaki Longboard
8 Yuta Morimoto Longboard

Japan has competed in all of the previous World Surfing Games to date, always obtaining a spot in the top 20. Their best result came in Huntington Beach 2006, Carcavelos 1998 and Durban 2002, placing 9th in the Overall Team Standings.
About the International Surfing Association (ISA)
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for Surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in La Jolla, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Mike Gerard (USA) and Karín Sierralta (Peru).
