One of the most important yearly events, the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games that will take place in Playa Hermosa, Jaco, Costa Rica from August 1st through the 8th, has the confirmed presence of several of the best surfers today from the ASP World Tour.

Robert nat young

Since this edition of the World Surfing News is especially dedicated to the World Surfing Games, we decided to honour the great 2nd World Champion, Robert Nat Young, with this great biography written by the recognized Australian Surf Journalist, Nick Carroll.

Nat Young has more words written about him than any living surfer -- partly because he is an author who doesn't exactly shy away from making himself a subject.

His most recent book, an autobiography, is titled "Nat's Nat and That's That." But however you view his legendary self-regard, Young's fame is thoroughly deserved. Of all the surfers, he best defines the great shifts that took place in the sport and the art of surfing between the Malibu days of the early '60s and the high-performance explosion of the ensuing decades.
