Antonio Sotillo elected President of the Venezuelan Surfing Federation

Antonio Sotillo, current President of the Latin American Professional Surfers Association (ALAS), was elected last April 8 as the new President of the Venezuelan Surfing Federation.

There were two lists of candidates of the board for the elections, and it was a unanimous decision in favor of Sotillo’s list. Luis Robero will be vice-president, Lucero Pacheco,  Secretary and Gabriel Oliva, Treasurer.

Sotillo (40 years) has already been Vice President of the surfing governing body of his country from 2000 until 2004, in addition to serving as PASA’s president from 2003 through 2007. He is back in charge of the federation and he wants to get things right again in Venezuelan competitive surfing, after what according to him, was a gap which the sport has suffered for almost three years.

As he said, there are plenty of individual results of Venezuelan surfers in international events, but there has been a lack of good results for the country as a team. That’s why he decided, among other things, to run as a candidate. Sotillo successfully won the elections, assuming his position immediately.
