Management of FPS is re-elected for a new term with 875 votes
The General Meeting of the Portuguese Surfing Federation was carried out on April 26 at Fátima. The meeting concluded with the re-election of Guilherme Bastos as president.

With 875 votes, the president, who obtained a convincing victory against the 118 votes from the opponents, renewed his term of office until the year 2013. The opponent list was leaded by the longboarder from Algarve, Manuel Mestre (159 votes were “blank ballots”).

According to Bastos, the election “is unmistakable proof that most of the Portuguese surfers believe in the continuity and the future of our projects for the development of the sport”. On the other hand, Manuel Mestre, in spite of having been defeated, emphasized the willingness of the voters and made clear that he will go on working with the elected management.

Twenty-five clubs and two Associations were present in the election and they represented almost 70% of the total of voters of the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
