Peruvians stood out in the Reef Classic Panama
In the fourth stage of the Latin American tour ALAS, the Peruvian surfers Sebastian Alarcón, Juan José Corzo, Analí Gómez, Valeria Solé and Nadja de Col proved to have potential in big waves.
4-11 Beach was the place where these representatives made their moves in over two meter waves.
The four-time national champion, Sebastian Alarcon, was close to placing on the podium, but he couldn’t beat his Venezuelan counterpart Francisco Bellorín in the quarters. Alarcon had a great performance during the four days of competition, which got him fifth place in the event and raising him to second place in the Open ranking.
In the girls division, competitors were shocked with the risky moves Analí Gómez performed in the powerful waves. “La Negra”, as many people know her, obtained first place in the event followed by Valeria Solé, who at her young age, didn’t hesitate to ride such waves. Nadja de Col was awarded third place. Thus, the Peruvian surfers seized the podium in this division.
Finally, longboarder Juan José Corzo was up to his old school tricks in this division. It was a pretty tight final, where Corzo couldn’t beat Brazilians’ skills. Juan José obtained the fourth position of this division.
Movistar-Seedbed of talent closed its first edition with a perfect finale
The Seebed of talent Movistar closed its first edition with good conditions for these young surfers in Makaha Beach, Miraflores- Lima.
After two stages, in Cerro Azul (Cañete) and Barranquito (Barranco, Lima), some divisions had their champions, but others, girls Under 10, didn’t. However, on a tight final, Daniela Torres won the event and was crowned Champion of the division.
In the Under 10 division, Andrés Echecopar reasserted the first place on the ranking, as he won for the third consecutive time this division.
The audience was surprised when Micaela Salcedo, in the Under 12 division, beat current Champion, Maria Fernanda Reyes, who took second place. On the other hand, in the Under 12 boys division, Adrián García obtained the first place one more time with a wave of 7 points and another one of 4.73 points.
Luis Eduardo Escudero (Under 14 champion) had a stroke of bad luck taking second place while Max de la Rosa was awarded first place; however, in the girls division, as in previous stages, Miluska Tello took first place, and the first place on the overall ranking again.
The Under 12 Pro is the division in which the champion has not been decided. Alonso Correa and Lucca Saldivar were competing for the title.
Both were beaten by Tomas Tudela, who surprised the judges and the audience scoring 7 and 6.27 point waves. Alonso and Lucca were fighting for the second, whereas Alonso Correa holds third place. Now both surfers have the same score in the ranking which will have to be analyzed by the event manager to announce who is named Under 12 Pro Champion.
In the Under 14 Pro, the local from Punta Hermosa, Joaquin del Castillo obtained one of the highest scores of the event (9.67), and the highest combined, 18.17; however, Juninho Urcia was named champion of the division because he obtained first place in the first 2 stages.
Finally, in Tandem division, Carlos Cruz and Gabriel Vargas made the most innovative and extended moves to obtain first place.

The shaper Rodolfo Klima runs the campaign “I want to dream about you Peru”
The Peruvian world famous shaper, Rodolfo Klima, has organized a campaign called “I want to dream about you Peru”. He expects, with all the Peruvian surfers’ help, to collect as many used boards as possible and donate them to kids who don’t have the chance to buy one.
Klima will give the surfers a US$50 discount for any board they want. Boards broken, damaged or worn are welcome as Kilma can repair them in his store, before donating.
Thus, Rodolfo will contribute, not only, to bring joy to many children but also to the development of this sport.
