The Billabong ISA World Surfing Games are coming
Costa Rica is getting ready for the biggest surfing championship in history held in Central American coasts

Billabong ISA World Surfing Games
August 1-8, 2009
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica

One of the most important and traditional global surfing events, the Billabong ISA World Surfing Games will take place from August 1-8 in the perfect waves of Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. This will be the first time that a Central American country will receive the best surfers from around the world.

Honoring Earth Day
Last Saturday, April 18, Save The Waves Coalition, in partnership with Mavericks Surf Ventures, Green Apple Festival and numerous volunteers from around the Bay Area, met at Half Moon Bay's most famous beach where the Mavericks big wave surf spot rocks the coast in the winter. The waves were small but over 30 volunteers showed up to walk the beach and cliffs picking up trash in honor of Earth Day. After 2 hours of sweat and sandy beach combing, we left with a cleaner beach and over 200 pounds of oceanborne trash.

HAWAII´S RISING STAR

Recently crowned as the new ISA World Junior Surfing Champion in the Under 16 division, we can say that Hawaiian Keanu Asing, 15, has definitely started his career in the surfing competitive world on the right foot.
He was born in the surfing mecca of Oahu, Hawaii, on May 30 1993, and started surfing as a little kid. Just a few years later, when he was 12, he was already signing a sponsor contract, winning contests and ripping all the time.
