Biarritz Maider Arosteguy
With more than 200 registered competitors, the 25th Edition of the Quiksilver Biarritz Maider Arosteguy once again confirmed it is the main event that unveils the European surfing season.  A multitude of aspiring youngsters convened on the Grand Plage of Biarritz to compete with the more experienced surfers, many of which already knew the meaning of stepping on a podium during a WQS event.

On Easter Monday, traditional day for the finals, under a radiant sun and beautiful 1.5-meter waves, the final phase was disputed with a double podium, since during the previous days conditions had been chaotic.

In the “Mini Ondines” category, the Biscay-born twins Loiola and Leticia Canales were 1st and 3rd respectively, while Landaise native, Joséphine Costes, occupied the second position.

On the other hand, young Natxo Gonzales obtained a second place in the “Alevines” division, in which the native from Guipuzcoa, Imanol Yeregi was third.
