2008 ISA World Surfing Games finalists: Doping Tests Negative

The International Surfing Association received on the past Wednesday, January 14, the results of doping tests carried out with all finalists of the ISA World Surfing Games that took place in Costa de Caparica, Portugal, from October 12 - 18.  The news was good: all were negative.

The following surfers not only showed athletic excellence in the water, but also passed the doping test and the obtained results showed all have excellent sportsmanship.

The International Surfing Association is compromised with the practice of the sport according to Olympic standards and, consequently, to the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) rules.  It congratulates all the medal winners of these ISA World Surfing Games.  This result was an added bonus to an excellent event.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since.
