2008 NATIONAL TOUR ENDS
Abner Rivera crowned National Champion for the sixth time
The “Los Pinos” beach in Sipacate, was once again invaded on December 13-14 by the country’s surfers during the 6th Stop of the Guatemalan Surf National Tour, organized by the NATIONAL SURF ASSOCIATION OF GUATEMALA (ASOSURF). Delegations from Champerico, Puerto de San José, La Empalizada and Guatemala City arrived on the 13th to fight for a place on the podium.
The event began on Saturday 13th at 9.30 a.m. with 4-feet waves. The weather conditions varied during the course of the day while the qualifying heats took place. The day finished with a concert and a bikini contest that nobody wanted to miss.
The event took place thanks to the support of the National Surfing Association, the director of Paco Blanco Rubber Plant and the Shock surf shop, which supplied gifts to the competitors.

Alejandra Gil and Amos Rivera from Champerico Beach receive Awards
On the past 7th December, the Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala – CDAG, gave prizes to the year’s outstanding athletes. And obviously we couldn’t be absent from this activity in honor of the athletes that have given all their effort in favor of Guatemala.
On this occasion, Alejandra Gil in the Open Ladies Surfboard category and Amos Rivera in the Under 16 Men’s Surfboard category where chosen to receive this valuable prize.
Important members of the national sport scene were present as well as the country’s Vice-President. The Surfing Association of Guatemala congratulates these two athletes for raising the standards of Guatemalan surf and urges the rest of the surfers to continue fighting for the continuous growth of our sport.
