2009 ISA Scholarship Program has successful number of aspiring candidates

More than 70 juniors from 24 different countries have sent their application forms to the ISA 2009 Individual Scholarship Program, showing how successful this project has become. Forty grants will be granted to those juniors that show they find themselves in a situation of economic need, are good surfers, good students and admired by their communities.

Bodyboarding: no longer part of the ISA World Surfing Games

Beginning with this year’s edition, the International Surfing Association announced that the Bodyboard divisions will no longer be part of the disciplines within the World Surfing Games.

2008 ISA World Surfing Games finalists: Doping Tests Negative

The International Surfing Association received on the past Wednesday, January 14, the results of doping tests carried out with all finalists of the ISA World Surfing Games that took place in Costa de Caparica, Portugal, from October 12 - 18.  The news was good: all were negative.

Isaac Norman is 16; he was born and raised in the Canada East Coast Surfing Capital of Nova Scotia. He started surfing when he was seven and after that he never stopped. Surfing has become a huge part of his life.

The only surfer in the short history of the ISA Individual Scholarship Program to win two back to back grants is Peruvian Juninho Urcia. He proved to be a great ISA Ambassador, by continually getting good grades at school, great results in contests and being amazing young individual.

Mr. Perfection

“He´s really close to perfection”, said Robin de Kock, Vice President of the International Surfing Association and Surfing South Africa General Manager, in an aftermath talk once the Portugal 2008 ISA World Surfing Games were over. His compatriot and long time fellow South African Team member Mr. Matthew Moir had won the Gold medal in a back to back victory.
