Gabriel Villarán: Runner up at Puerto Escondido WQS
One of the best Peruvian surfers, Gabriel Villarán, placed second at the PXM International Vans, a 3-star WQS event that took place in Puerto Escondido, Mexico.
He had a much contended final against Mexicans Angelo Lozano and David Rutherford, and American Ryan Turner. The Peruvian managed to surpass the last two competitors, but could not surpass the know-how and radicalism of the local athlete, Lozano, who placed first.
Villarán not only obtained this second place but also his best result ever in a WQS event, and we are sure he will continue adding up important points.
Cristóbal de Col at Pipeline
This young fifteen-year-old Peruvian inscribed his name in the most powerful Hawaiian waves.
On November 27, Cristóbal de Col traveled to the Hawaiian North Shore to continue his training with the Red Bull Top Tiders. Although surfing in the Pipeline waves is not easy, mainly for the amount of surfers that go there at this time of the year, Cristóbal ingeniously managed to take the best waves and entered the most spectacular tubes of the year.
This was not his single feat. As the waves grew, he decided to go to Waimea where 4 to 5-meter high waves were breaking.
On the third week of December, Cristóbal de Col will disembark at Cabo Blanco, northern Peru, to continue his training in its waves.
