USA announces National Team for the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing
Championships
Surfing America
has announced the surfers that will represent the United States at the
Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships to take place in Costa
de Caparica, Portugal from May 4 to May 13, 2007.
The surfers that will represent the United States at this year’s
biggest Junior event will be:
Under 18 Boys
Cory Arrambide
Trevor Saunders
Cody Thompson
Kris Wiernecki
Michael Dumphy – Alternate
Under 16 Boys
Kolohe Andino
Evan Geiselman
Riley Metcalf
Luke Davis
Evan Thompson – Alternate
Dane Zaund – Alternate
Under 18 Girls
Courtney Conlogue
Sage Erickson
Amy Nicholl
Sara Taylor
Kaliegh Gilchrist – Alternate
From placing last at the first WJSC held in Durban, South Africa 2003,
the USA team has greatly improved their positions in the following
years: obtaining second in Tahiti 2004, a third in Huntington 2005 and a
sixth in Brazil 2006.
This year, the United States surfing team has some junior standouts.
Familiar names like Cory Arrambide, Trevor Saunders, Kolohe Andino, Evan
Geiselman and Courtney Conlogue will be defending their nation in
Portugal.
