Hawaii announces team for the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing
Championships
The Hawaii
Amateur Surfing Association –HASA- has announced the team that will
compete in the upcoming Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing
Championships that will take place at Costa da Caparica, Portugal –May,
4-13.
The Hawaiian team:
Under 18 Boys
Kai Barger
Tonino Benson
Granger Larsen
Kekoa Cazimero
Under 16 Boys
Tanner Henderickson
Albee Layer
Keanu Asing
Dylan Goodale
Under 18 Girls
Alessa Quizon
Leila Hurst
Alana Blanchard
Monyca Byrne-Wickey
Hawaii has an excellent winning record at the Quiksilver ISA World
Junior Surfing Championships. Since the first edition they’ve always
placed in the top 5, winning the 2005 Championships in Huntington Beach.
In 2005, this year Under 18 Boys team member, Tonino Benson won the Gold
in the Under 16, with his fellow countrymen, Clay Marzo getting the
Silver. Carissa Moore and Lani Hunter won the Bronze and Copper medals
in the Under 18 Girls division.
