A strong Tahitian Team will compete in Portugal
The Tahitian Surfing Federation confirmed the team that will represent Tahiti in the next ISA World Surfing Games that will take place in Costa de Caparica’s waves, Portugal, from October 11-19.
As always, a strong Tahitian team will travel to one of the most important competitions of the year. Two Golden medal athletes will be surfing for their country: Hira Terinatoofa, winner at Salinas, Ecuador in 2004 and Tamaroa McComb, ISA Junior World Under 16 Champion of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in France, May this year. The 2007 World Masters Surfing Championship Runner Up, Heifara Tahutini, will be competing in Longboard.

The Tahitians have participated in all the previous editions of the ISA World Surfing Games with very good performances, thus they have always been among the fifteen first countries in the overall nations ranking. In Salinas, Ecuador 2004, they obtained the fifth place and the Gold medal in the Open division, thanks to the great Hira Terinatoofa who destroyed the Playa de la FAE waves.
About International Surfing Association
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since. The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Maile Aguerre (Hawaii) and Mike Gerard (USA).
