Sweden will participate in the World Surfing Games

The Swedish Surfing Association confirmed the list of surfers who will be part of the Swedish Surfing Team in the ISA World Surfing Games 2008, the event will take place at Costa de Caparica, Portugal from October 11-19.

The Swedish Team will not participate with a full team, but they gathered six out of the ten surfers that a complete team has. These are the members of the team:

Seth Pahlsson
Jakob Andersson
Tim Latte

OPEN WOMEN
Lisa Peterson

LONGBOARD
Henio Skaldin

TEAM MANGER
Binge Eliasson

ASSISTANT MANAGER
Ingrid Esser

The Swedish Team has only competed in the last two editions of the ISA World Surfing Games. They obtained the 23rd position at Salinas, Ecuador 2004 and 30th at Huntington Beach, California 2006. They will try to improve their previous performances in Costa de Caparica.

Earlier this year, in the second edition of the ISA World Master Surfing Championship, Sweden was greatly represented by the “one man team” of Henio Skaldin who placed 21st in the Grand Master division. Henio will be competing in the Longboard division of the 2008 ISA World Surfing Games.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for surfing, bodyboarding and surfriding. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. 

ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected six times since.  The ISA's four Vice Presidents are Alan Atkins (Australia), Robin de Kock (South Africa), Maile Aguerre (Hawaii) and Mike Gerard (USA).
