About the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship
Q and A with Quiksilver Europe President, Pierre Agnes
Quiksilver Europe President, Pierre Agnes reveals a great deal of experience when we talk about surfing: Business in Surfing, Coaching, Competition – he was a Quiksilver sponsored Surfer and France Team Member in 1986 ISA World Surfing Games.
Last May, he was also a great host in the sixth edition of the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship that took place in the waves of La Plage du Penon, France. Every detail was attended, giving the world an amazing contest with the best junior surfing, great waves and an amazing organization.
In the following paragraphs, Pierre tells us a little bit about how he feels about the amazing contest that he hosted.
Give us your opinion about this year´s Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship
I think we were lucky with the weather and the waves. The level of surfing was excellent, especially with the girls. The ISA crew managed by Fernando Aguerre was super efficient and professional. I always believe that the attention to all the details makes the difference.
I’m aware that you have competed in previous ISA events. What can you tell me about the past ISA events and the ones we see nowadays?
The main thing is that each event uses the best from the preceding one and, by doing so, it can only get better. Once again, a big thanks to Fernando and his team for everything from the Opening Ceremony to the very last day.
This is the sixth time that Quiksilver supports the Juniors. Why do you think it was the right decision to do it?
For many reasons, but the main ones being:
-To support the future of surfing on a global level (It is really exciting to see new countries such as Senegal).
-Because this obliges the executives of Quiksilver to put their feet in the sand and face the reality of where we are in terms of sponsorship with athletes of tomorrow.
What do you think that this event has that others do not?
Incredible team spirit in a sport that is individual.
