FOREVER LAURA ENEVER
The last Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship left pretty good memories and a clear picture of the talented surfers that will become the professional surfing elite in a near future. The girls final was a real example of good surfing and competition, Laura Enever was crowned there as the big lady in France.
Enever was born on November 14, 1991 in North Narrabeen, Australia. She started to catch Australian media attention when she was very young, thanks to her great stylish surfing and charm of this young blond girl who is 1.55 meters tall and weighs 47 kg.
She had achieved different titles throughout her career: second in the 2007 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, third in the Billabong ASP World Junior Championship 2007, first in the Quiksilver Australian Junior Titles 2007 and first in Billabong Pro Junior, Bells Beach 2007.
Laura Enever, who admires Lisa Andersen and is a member of the Roxy team, was close to get her first World championship last year in Costa de Caparica. It was in a final to remember where Sally Fitzgibbons kept the Gold Medal, Laura obtained the second position. That final had two Australian surfers, Fitzgibbons and Enever, with American Sage Ericsson and the Kiwi Paige Hareb in tow.
Laura had to wait one year to make her dream come true. It was in another final with two Australians, Tyler Wright and Enever, Courtney Conlogue from United States and the New Zealand’s surfer Airini Mason. It was a real battle where Enever ended up with a combination of 13.76, leaving behind the second position with 13.56 points.
“I’m so happy! I placed runner up last year, so now I was eager to improve my results, this is a dream come true”. About her strategy, she said: “I simply decided to look for the best waves. I know I had excellent rivals, but luckily things worked out for me”. That is what Laura Enever said as she came out of the water happy with her dreamed junior world champion title becoming reality.
Australian surfing is in good health, this champion’s land is doing a great job with its junior divisions. Their future and present looks bright.
